Short prayers – guidelines

S

The following are guidelines to help you to get the most value from using short prayers.

Take a dedicated time of 3 minutes or more to silence your heart. Engage in meditative prayer, repeating the prayer slowly and deliberately. Pause between each repetition, allowing for moments of silence. Direct your entire being towards God. Keep a notebook nearby to jot down any insights the Spirit may reveal to you. Then, act upon these revelations.

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to master the “art” of praying short prayers. It normally happens that from these short prayers, more prayer will flow from the heart.

The brevity of these prayers is not their true value. It’s the moments of silence and praying them meditatively that hold the key to spiritual growth. Rushing through them without reflection or contemplation will yield little spiritual benefit. So, take your time and immerse yourself in this prayer. Remember, it’s in these moments of silence that we can truly devote ourselves to Him, hear God’s voice and receive His guidance.
